Keto Friendly Shawarma-Spiced Chicken Wraps

Keto Friendly Shawarma-Spiced Chicken Wraps

As you know I am a big fan of serving “wraps” for lunch or a light dinner. Today we are going to take a look at Shawarma-Spiced Chicken Wraps

Chicken shawarma is traditionally prepared on a vertical, rotating spit over open flames. As a result, it can be challenging to prepare an authentic version of this dish at home. Fortunately, this tasty recipe delivers great shawarma flavor using tools you probably already have in your kitchen.

Shawarma or Shaweme is a stale of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine, prepared with lamb, beef, turkey or chicken and usually served on a pita. Today we make it keto friendly an serve it as a lettuce wrap.

Don’t let the list of ingredients scare you away, that is mostly seasonings that you already have and it only takes a couple of dashed of each to put the marinade together.

  5. Reduce heat to medium and continue cooking until chicken is cooked through, approximately 6-7 minutes per side. Remove from heat and let cool for several minutes.
  6. Thinly Slice chicken and arrange on lettuce leaves and top with tomatoes and cucumbers. Drizzle with Greek yogurt dressing and serve immediately. Enjoy

Chefs Tip: For quick make-ahead meals, double or triple this recipe and prepare several freezers bags with chicken and marinade at once. Then, place each bag in freezer until ready to use. Pull out a bag the night before preparing to give the chicken a chance to defrost and marinade at the same time.

I did not include the nutrtional value of the dressing in the above recipe. If you use that dressing add the following to the final numbers per serving 29 calories, o.9g fat, 29 carbs, 0.1g fiber and 3.5g protein.

Without the Dressing

Often if I do not have any Greek yogurt in the house I will add a little mustard/horseradish sauce and be just as happy with the end result. Oh, the lemons are good to eat so don’t just leave them on the plate.
